OnlineKasa and Visa to launch a service integrating payment acceptance technology into a messenger

The innovative solution to be launched first in Ukraine will allow entrepreneurs to accept cashless payments and keep track of goods in a handy Telegram chatbot

KYIV, December 21, 2022 – A new service that integrates accepting payments through a smartphone into a messenger service. is to be launched in a partnership between OnlineKasa and Visa.

The payment solution is based on Visa Tap to Phone technology, which allows smartphones with Android OS and an NFC chip to serve as a platform for receiving contactless card payments like ordinary POS terminals.

A new service has the same reliable protection protocols as ordinary POS-systems and is based on the international EMV chip card payment standard, which generates a unique cryptogram for each transaction.

“We at Visa are glad to implement this revolutionary solution in Ukraine, a country that has demonstrated tremendous progress in the digital field in recent years,” said Oleksandr Stelmakh, Visa Senior Director and Head of Digital Solutions for Ukraine, Georgia and CISSEE. “We believe that Visa Tap to Phone technology, for the first time integrated into a messenger, will help Ukrainian businesses, especially micro- and small entrepreneurs, adapt to difficult economic conditions and continue to work despite the crisis. Accepting payments has never been easier: all you have to do is pick up your smartphone and open the messenger app.”

Aside from the ability to accept electronic payments via a smartphone, the solution offers businesses other benefits. For instance, the OnlineKasa chatbot allows to register software POS systems at the tax service and maintain comprehensive financial records: keep track of goods and product balances, connect taxation, generate receipts for purchases or payments for services, as well as conduct the ‘service deposit’ and ‘service withdrawal’ operations and generate Z-reports automatically.

“Among entrepreneurs of the whole world, there is a steady increase in demand for a sales recording solution that can accept bank card payments via a phone and meet tax legislation requirements. However, small traders do not have time to study cash discipline,” tells Yanina Ubozhenko, Co-Founder and CEO of the Ukrainian fintech startup ‘OnlineKasa’. “Our team, in a partnership with Visa, has established an uncompromisingly simple and functional cashier’s workplace in a mobile messenger in order to present a ready-made solution for individual entrepreneurs. The advantages of such a solution are obvious: accessibility, mobility, low entry threshold.”

The payment solution is suitable for micro- and small businesses (beauty salons, service stations, convenience stores, etc.), which previously only accepted cash, but now want to use the opportunities and advantages of e-commerce. A new service may also come handy for entrepreneurs who are only planning to open their own business with a small starting capital.

The service for receiving payments through a smartphone integrated into a messenger from OnlineKasa and Visa will allow thousands of Ukrainian entrepreneurs to enjoy numerous benefits of convenient and safe cashless payments.
