When does insurance coverage start?
When travelling abroad
Your insurance coverage will start automatically if, before the trip, you:
- paid for round trip tickets with your Visa premium card
- reserved and paid for living accommodation with your premium Visa card before the trip
- paid for both tickets and living accommodation before the trip with your premium Visa card
In the country of permanent residence, your insurance coverage will start automatically if, before the trip, you:
- reserved living accommodation beforehand using your premium Visa card for at least 2 nights at a distance of not less than 100 km from your place.
Please note: To make sure your insurance coverage starts, you must pay for transport and/or living accommodation with your premium Visa card (in this case, the name on your card must match the name on your tickets and/or accommodation reservation).
How is COVID-19 insured?
If infected, you must notify the insurance company. In this case, you pay all medical expenses at your own charge, while you apply for compensation after returning to your country of permanent residence. This insurable event will be considered to be an ordinary medical case.
If you planned and paid for your trip in advance or have the contract to pay but suddenly got sick with COVID-19, your trip was cancelled, and your doctor forced you into the compulsory quarantine, you can apply for your trip cancellation insurance coverage. You have to provide the insurance company with the official medical documents confirming your diagnosis to make sure your request will be considered.
Insurance benefits
- Insurance for the whole family. If you travel with your family, they will also be insured (spouse and children).
- Your insurance is valid in the country of residence and abroad.
- Insurance for over 50 sports.
- Purchase protection insurance against damage or theft.
- High insurance limit. The maximum amount you can receive when an insurable event occurs is USD 2.5 million with your Visa Infinite card, USD 750 thousand for Visa Signature and USD 500 thousand for Visa Platinum Business and Visa Signature Business cards.
General terms and conditions of insurance
Please consider filling out a certificate of insurance before the trip, as you may be asked to produce it at customs control.
Duration: 90 days per trip but not more than 183 days a year. If the trip takes more than 90 days, it is considered to be completely uninsured.
Your insurance coverage starts and ends upon leaving and entering your country of permanent residence.
What to do if a medical insured event occurs?
- First of all, you should report the incident:

2. Indicate the data the insurance company will use to identify you as a client:
- Name, surname
- First 9 digits of your card
- Financial and local contact number
3. In turn, the insurance company records the appeal and transfers it to the doctor on duty.
4. The doctor contacts you and gives recommendations on what to do and which clinic to attend.
5. In the meantime, the insurance company contacts the clinic to keep the situation under control.
6. For the indemnity, keep all the receipts, tickets, and other documents confirming the accident.
Please note:
Cardholders pay all of the expenses at their own charge, while the insurance company can only reimburse them after considering the application for compensation. Medical expenses incurred by the cardholder after returning to the country of permanent residence are not covered by the insurance service.

You may apply for compensation if your trip is cancelled or shortened in advance due to:
- an unexpected illness, injury, or death of the cardholder or his/her close relative
- compulsory quarantine for the infected person (some personal quarantine rather than the situation in the country)
- complications of pregnancy with sequelae (if they did not arise before booking the trip).
In this case, the insurance company will only compensate for the non-reimbursable travel expenses.
What is NOT covered by insurance:
- Costs of reimbursable airport charges, duties, and taxes
- Trip cancellation due to a pre-existing illness
- Travel expenses using miles, bonuses, points, etc.
- Trip cancellation due to missing or invalid passport or visa
- an unexpected illness, injury, or death of the cardholder or his/her close relative

- Your flight is delayed for 4 hours or more.
- You checked in for the flight.
- You have an airline’s official document which confirms the flight delay

What is NOT covered:
- Loss as a result of delay, confiscation, or detention by the customs or other authorities

You are late for the point of departure due to the fact that
⇾ the car you drove broke or got into an accident
⇾ public transport you used arrived off scheduleYou must provide:
⇾ Proof of all additional expenses incurred by the cardholder
⇾ An official letter on the actual delay of public transport
⇾ An accident certificate- You must allow reasonable time to arrive at the point of departure on time.

Conditions to obtain compensation for the missed transit flight:
- You missed your confirmed next flight at the connecting point.
- You must provide airline’s documents which confirm the delayed departure or arrival of the first flight.
- You must make every effort to get on your next flight; you must allow (at least) 2 hours before the scheduled arrival time of the flight.

Your trips are not insured if
- you travel against the advice of your doctor
- you travel for medical treatment/consultation
- you have undiagnosed symptoms which require further treatment/examination.
- at the time of booking the trip, you are aware of any reasons which may cancel or shorten it
- if the main purpose of your trip is sports events, and you travel as an athlete.
- if a partner or a child travels without the cardholder.

- make use of all recommended/necessary equipment for your safety
- comply with all of the requirements and safety rules proposed by the organizers
- have no contraindications from your doctor to engage in a given sport
- do not compete for speed and time
