Portmone and Visa Launch Ready-Made Online Acquiring Solutions for Safe Delivery
Kyiv, 31 March 2021 – Portmone e-payment system and Visa payment technology company announced the launch in Ukraine of convenient payment methods for safe delivery based on "Pay on Delivery" technology. The technology unites on one platform the entire chain of store-to-home online delivery. The national postal operator Ukrposhta is the logistics partner.
The partners presented three solutions designed to make online shopping more convenient and safer for both buyers and merchants:
Blocking funds, actual payment upon receipt: When the order is submitted, funds are temporarily blocked on the buyer`s account. The actual payment occurs only after delivery confirmation. This way, a customer can order several products to select one, and pay only for the one product. It also helps to avoid misunderstandings with ordering weighted goods.
Confirmation of purchase via link or QR-code. Actual payment occurs only after confirmation, either when the customer confirms receipt via link, or when the courier scans a pre-generated QR code from the customer’s smartphone screen.
Actual cost of goods or services with logistics. The buyer immediately sees the total cost of the purchase including delivery by Ukrposhta. Only one API for integration.
“As a result of the pandemic, our country has rapidly transitioned to e-commerce. However, many buyers still have reservations about online purchases with non-cash payments. Our solutions are designed to improve the customer experience of paying online, as well as help merchants significantly improve their service for online orders. We hope that Safe Delivery from Portmone, implemented with the support of Visa, will convince even more Ukrainians to use cashless payments for goods and services purchased online", – noted Dmytro Basov, CEO of Portmone.
Safe Delivery from Portmone is based on the Pay on Delivery solution, which was developed by Visa's innovation center in Dubai. By researching the behavior of consumers who choose cash to pay for online orders upon delivery, the company has identified the most common customer concerns and proposed solutions for them. For several months, the Visa team has been actively working with Portmone to launch this solution in the Ukrainian market.
“Our study showed that a significant share of customers pay for online orders in cash only because they are not willing to pay in advance or wait a long time for a refund if they refused to accept the order. Pay on Delivery allows the buyer to pay cashless after actually receiving the product or service, which is greatly simplifies order processing and minimizes the interaction between customer and courier. This is not only the most convenient method of paying for online orders, but also the safest, especially during a pandemic,” added Oleksandr Yablunivskyi, Vice President, Products and Solutions for Visa in Ukraine, Georgia, CIS countries and South-Eastern Europe.
“Thanks to the fact that the payment solution from Portmone.com and the delivery solution from Ukrposhta have been combined into a single API that can be integrated in online stores or marketplaces, one can see the final cost of delivery and process it simultaneously. Moreover, couriers do not need to handle cash or move around the city with it, which is a significant advantage in terms of security,” believes Yevhen Hlinsky, Deputy Director of the Financial Business Department of Ukrposhta.
